Tôlerie Forézienne, a company active in made-to-measure metal working, joins the Human Cities project. Six projects of urban design that were selected internally following a contest organised by Pro Materia between French and Belgian designers, have been prototyped by the Rhône-Alpes located company. The project with Tôlerie Forézienne goes for the long run. It aims at identifying sustainable social-cultural links, rewarding and communicating around urban furniture and equipment in adequacy with the need for a better quality of life and an interactivity of its users. It brings a critical look and a concrete response to the expectations and functions of the contemporary city.

The prototypes were exhibited at the International Design Biennial of Saint-Etienne in November 2008.

The initiative is also nominated for the Index Award Denmark 2009, Section Community. The results for these prizes will be known in June 2009.
